Why would you like to join the Arbiter Committee? I think this is a place where I can help out, seeing as there has been issues brought up about not enough volunteers in staff recently.

What prior experience do you have, if any, do you think is relevant for this position? I feel silly answering this this way since its a discord server but I've attended classes in formal logic. Logical consequence seems like it would be an important part of being a decent arbiter.

A little about me, I've been playing CS for 13 years or so and joined CSC in Season 7 where I was drafted by KEK and played with them for 2 seasons getting knocked out in quarterfinals twice 🙃 . I've had a blast playing with and interacting with most people here, and I'm excited for the opportunity to give back a bit by helping out in arbitration. I think getting a fair shot at having an offense be reconsidered is maybe the most important part of any community like this. I've got the time to give the appeals the consideration and discussion they deserve. Let me know if you've got any questions for me.

You've been pretty outspoken about the issues you have with how RC, Moderation, and in general how things are run here. What changes do you think you could bring to the arbiter committee? Why do you think it is "silly" to give qualifications for a discord server that you wish to apply for a staff position in?

I see joining the arbiters not as a way to bring change to RC or moderation(although I'd like to), but rather to be able to be a part of the process that allows people to disagree with mod-actions in a formal way. I'm not certain of any specific changes I'd like to see at the moment, but one thing I want to bring to the table would be to increase the speed at which appeals get investigated and completed. I don't think its silly to give qualifications, just that I felt a bit silly since I referred to the relevant college courses I've taken like you would on a resume.

What does impartiality mean to you? And I think being logical is pretty relevant to this position, so I think putting forth those kinds of experiences is a good thing.

Thanks, I think impartiality means being able to make decisions like the person you being considered is just a variable [x]. Make decisions like you don't know who is being accused so you can remove your own potential biases from the decision making process. Of course this isn't always possible and if its a decent sized bias that cant be removed, you should remove yourself as judge from that specific case.

As an arbiter you must be a neutral voice for those making appeals. Siding directly with someone making appeals or against them breaks the impartiality arbiters are meant to uphold. Similarly, you have to remain at least amenable to mods as arbiters do rely on mods to answer any evidence questions about cases. Do you see yourself as having or being perceived to have any issues in these areas? If so please address any concerns others may have.

If any mods have issues with me, they have not let me know about it and I don't think its worth speculating as to how people feel about me. I would hope that any mods who dislike any antics I've been involved in can see that its out of a desire to improve the community, not simply to frustrate them although I sympathize with that frustration. Moderation in communities like this is difficult, this is my first step towards working with mod-staff officially and I intend, if chosen, to approach them in the arbiter's capacity with professionalism. This doesn't mean I will neuter my opinions to cede to a majority opinion if I think differently, or that I wont get fired up during debate. My hope is that by working closer with them, we can understand each other better... Frankly SSD and general chat arent great places to interact with people you disagree with and the disagreements that mod-staff have interacted with me on have been made lesser because of that. I dont think I will have issues any greater than the other candidates on remaining impartial. Its a goal, but rarely, if ever, 100% possible. Read above on what I mean by impartiality. Thanks for the question @TFR | 42Firehawk, let me know if you think I can answer anything more specifically.

Are you generally available on tuesdays/thursdays to rule on appeals that might impact a player getting to play on that match day?

Do appeals normally get ruled on immediately before matches?
12:37 PM
I would imagine we should be ruling on things generally before mds even start.
12:40 PM
If an infraction occurs before a md. It should be ruled on before 9 est that md.
12:40 PM
If it occurs that md and we rule on it within hours, we risk rushing the process and giving a bad verdict (edited)

Following that reasoning,i dont think my schedule should be an issue.
