Why would you like to join the Arbiter Committee? Becoming an Arbiter would be an easy way for me to support CSC via a staff position that suits me well.

What prior experience do you have, if any, do you think is relevant for this position? Formerly held some mod positions in a different gaming community for ~2y and generally an outspoken and β€œteaching” member in other communities I participate in.

Heya 🀠 Impartiality is an adherence to objectivity. To me personally, Impartiality is another way to view context. That is to say, being impartial gives me perspective on a problem that I wouldn't normally have moment-to-moment and obviously it's a key part of something like being an Arbiter. An unbiased look at a situation can sometimes even "gamify" it and help you catch yourself or others from making rash or otherwise poor decisions(or be able to note when they've already been made), and I value such a viewpoint very highly.

Personally I think my ability to be unbiased and look at things from an outside viewpoint has helped me to grow to be a more understanding and level-headed person in all facets of my life. In other words, I think it comes very naturally to me and as I said I highly value impartiality and many aspects surrounding it

As an arbiter you must be a neutral voice for those making appeals. Siding directly with someone making appeals or against them breaks the impartiality arbiters are meant to uphold. Similarly, you have to remain at least amenable to mods as arbiters do rely on mods to answer any evidence questions about cases. Do you see yourself as having or being perceived to have any issues in these areas? If so please address any concerns others may have.

I don't really see myself having any issues with the process in either of those areas. Like I stated above, I don't find it difficult to remain impartial in these situations and in the case I did have difficulty there are clear actions I can take to remove myself from the situation. Also, I haven't had many direct experiences with the mod team that might influence my decision making one way or another, so I don't think I would have any problems in that regard either.

Are you generally available on tuesdays/thursdays to rule on appeals that might impact a player getting to play on that match day?

My home situation allows my schedule to be pretty free so yes, I'd generally be available for such situations. In most cases where I'm busy it's due to scheduling something beforehand so if I were to become an Arbiter I could work around whatever's necessary fairly well.
