Why do you want to become an Admin? I want to join the admin team to help CSC grow as a whole. Both in terms of size and in terms of as a community. We have come a long way since I joined CSC in May 2020 and I still think that we still have a lot we can work on. The people that make up CSC is why I continue to stay in the league, and why I am running now. To add to this, my primary reason for why I want to rejoin the team is because of my prior experience as an admin and in the league in general. I feel as though the admin team is lacking a general sense of direction often and lacks the work ethic that I feel I can provide. This past season was the first season with 5 admins and it was proclaimed as the fix all by many to the activity problems but it was nothing of the sort. At the end of the day to have a good and healthy admin team all 5 admins need to be there, doing their part.
9:53 PM
What prior experience do you have that you believe will help you as an Admin? First off, I have been a player in CSC since S2 and have only not played for 2 seasons since then (S5 and S7) so in total 5 seasons as a player. Now on to staff experience, I have 2 seasons under my belt as admin in the past (S5&S6). This on top of my time as Mod Committee Head and involvement in Media Committee (I was interim head of Media in S5 and casted/observed many games for several seasons). I have also been involved in events committee since S2 and hosted several events activities such as 1v1 tourneys, wingman tourneys, chess event, HLTV fantasy, and for the 3rd football season in a row fantasy football. I was part of rules committee since its inception and only taking a break from it from during S7-8 because mods were ineligible to run for rules committee. I have also been part of the new numbers committee which was created last season. I was a GM for one season during S4 and also an AGM during S5 (LETS GO NAN!). So to put it more easily here is my prior experience bulleted.
  • 5 seasons as a player
  • 2 seasons as admin
  • 3 seasons in rules committee
  • 5 seasons as mod (2 as head)
  • 3 seasons in media (1 as interim head)
  • 3 seasons in events
  • 1 season in numbers (+2 if you count numbers while admin)
  • 1 season as GM
  • 1 season as AGM
Feel free to ask more specific questions if you have any about what I did during my time in any of these positions. I will try my best to explain anything here if anyone wants to know more!

What things do you hope to implement, reinforce, or remove as an Admin. I am not gonna sit here and promise the community some long list of things that I will implement as admin. To this date not a single person has ever followed up on even half their long laundry list of hopes and dreams. I want to just put it simply. If I become admin I will work my hardest to put in the time, effort, and dedication to make the upcoming seasons of CSC the best yet. Here are my 3 main priorities I plan to work on as admin. Number one: structure for all future seasons to come. This is probably the most important thing to me and something that CSC fails at. At the core CSC is a for fun league and its matches are Tuesday and Thursday. This basic idea starts to get bogged down by an admin team who is cluttered and disorganized, not knowing when to release certain posts and not able to hit basic deadlines. That is absolutely detrimental to everyone in CSC. If admins are tripping over their own heels not knowing what is coming next and don't have the basics in order they are unable to work on the actual big changes in CSC. The implementation here is to work on a set calendar/guide for CSC that can be used for many seasons to come. This includes pretty much all things such as dates and even when things like activity check, or miniscule changes like when commands need to be changed. This would be editable pending any changes to CSC, so if for example an admin team very far into the future wanted to change things like game numbers it would be easily changeable. This was my idea and something I ran on back in Season 7 and was wanting to implement that I unfortunately wasn't able to due to not winning re-election.
9:54 PM
Next up, admin interaction. This is mainly about admins responding to serious suggestions and for staff new idea channel. It is something that has come up quite a few times and it is a shame that ideas are straight up ignored. What I am proposing is that admins within 24h or so have to have at least responded to these suggestions. As long as that suggestion is worthy of response (not joke suggestions). This doesn’t mean they have to have made a decision on that suggestion but at bare minimum stating that it is being looked into/has been presented to the admin team. There have been well over 5 good suggestions this season (and way more in the prior season to that) that were straight up ignored. In my opinion there isn’t anything much worse than a community member having a suggestion and the most important people, the people who can actually make that change just straight up never talking about it or acknowledging its existence. It's a shame. This can also apply to rules as well as there have been quite a few incidents of there being rules that were overall good but never presented in any form to rules committee.
9:54 PM
Third and finally, advertising and overall better discord experience for new members. Last season we didn’t grow enough and that lead to some overall awkward and quite honestly sad situations where GMs had to lose teams. This is a worst case scenario by most regards and it was easily solvable. Coming into this season I have already been working on advertisements to avoid this situation coming into the next season. My personal opinion is that if CSC is not growing the league will eventually die. This is why I am placing so much emphasis on this. In the past the format we have used has been vastly successful and looking forward I plan to grow the league even more. If elected admin I am prepared to use my own money to sponsor paid advertisements in the form of reddit advertisements. Onto the better discord experience, scraps has already done a lot by following up on the idea to make off-topic channels role opt in which has worked out relatively well I think. My plans if I become admin are to setup a more in-depth member screening that will overhaul the new player experience. This means that when you join the discord you will not just be lost in our ever expansive discord but rather be slowly introduced into the discord. There is a variety of different changes in the new discord. Here is a link to check it out yourself: https://discord.gg/R4dnzRjWCY

The primary changes are the “landing-pad” which is the only channel new members will see until they react to a message. Once you react you will become a spectator and the general channels, community section, and media (self advertising, highlights and such) will be unlocked. Another new thing with my proposed changes is making League Channels role bound. This means that in order to see league channels such as league discussion, serious suggestions, score reporting, and some others. You will have to either be a member in the league or react in #roles-and-tickets to receive a “Lurker” role. This would allow any non league members to involve themselves if they so choose to while also cleaning up the discord for new members. There are other changes in this new discord as well, a lot of them are staff specific. These changes have been worked on by scraps (and some by me) and a good deal of these will be hitting our server soon (some already have). Just to note, none of these changes are set in stone, especially wording and the way that it would be handled has to be worked on on the tech side (already in the works). There’s a lot that can be done with this idea. If you have any ideas to further branch this out feel free to let me know! I would love to hear your feedback!
9:54 PM
TL;DR for my plans as admin (would recommend reading them as they provide greater detail) 1. Integrating a much better structure for upcoming seasons in the form of a guide/calendar laying out when things need to take place. 2. Increasing admin interaction with community, particularly with serious suggestions. Issues shouldn't fall to the wayside, they should be handled accordingly, at bare minimum acknowledgement that the admins have seen your suggestion. 3. Ramping up advertisement (of which you can already see the success of that) and better member onboarding/discord structure changes. This is hard to shorten, I'd suggest to check it out here: https://discord.gg/R4dnzRjWCY or read up on it above (last paragraph)

Anything else you would like to add? I just want to say thank you to all the members who make this community what it is. I have always said that the reason why I want to run for admin is the community and that is still true today. Its why some of my best friends online have been met through CSC. People I have met up with in person like Intact, and those who I talk to on a daily basis like Yung_Smit. I truly couldn't see my life being without it. Back in 2020 CSC actually helped me through a pretty hard time in my life and since then I have wanted to give back to it. So regardless of what happens at the end of this election I just have to say a big thank you to everyone.

I did go a bit overboard on details. Didn’t want to skimp out ;) 5 admins is ideal in my opinion. At least at our current size. If they are all doing their own fair share there should be no issues with workload.

Hey fellow Luke! One of the biggest problem's I've had with the latest crop of admins (including some of those who are still running) are their lack of availability or ability to commit to the league. What are some of the reassurances that you can give someone like me who likes your platform, but is unsure of your ability to be present for the coming seasons.

I would personally love to work with andrew first. He’s been in CSC about the same amount of time as I and he has shown he is both able to work well with others and has enough time and dedication to the league to fill the admin seat in my opinion. For the second admin elected with me I am personally torn between Cash and M3CH. I get along great with Cash and our personalities mesh very well. He as far as I can tell has what it takes in terms of time requirements and during his time as TM has been more than speedy with his response times. These are a lot of the things I look at when I think about who I would like to be working with. And onto M3CH, he has been involved in the CSC staff side since pretty much the day he joined the league and has raised our production immensely. The only worry I have with M3CH is the amount of time he has to dedicate towards the league as I know he is involved in quite the laundry list of other things in his life. But if he has the time to commit to the league Logan is easy to work with and has a ton of experience in the counter strike scene with plenty of connections that can help CSC grow to the next level.

step bro 🏆 🏆 8/11/2022 12:20 AM
I'm open to potential sponsorships if it is what is best for the community members. For example, I feel as though something like pureskill.gg something that is already deeply ingrained in our community, would be a great sponsor. In terms of mutual benefits we should never be looking to sell out our members for money or other means. I think that if a sponsor fits a need of ours and we can integrate them without giving up much then its a decent proposition. Servers is something I feel as though I have been very public on thinking it is something CSC could and should find a sponsor for as it is pretty much 90% of our operating cost season to season.

I would redirect you to my application for why you should vote for me. For prize pools FOR EVENTS I’m personally willing to put up money towards it. But from a community funding stand point I would prioritize it immediately after all necessary costs are fulfilled, there will be no logos or otherwise prioritized ahead of events like the prior admin team has. If the numbers support 5 tiers we should expand to it. Being as though I was part of numbers this past season I can tell you that we definitely were not ready for it last season. I feel as though it is somewhat within reach this season if advertising goes to plans. But by next season I’d expect to have a 5th tier. I would like to be clear though. It is very much depending on numbers deciding this. Admins do not have as much say as the numbers committee in this matter and I think that they shouldn’t. (edited)

I think that getting to the point where admin criticism is at a low is a good starting point. If admins are doing a good job there shouldn’t be a bad perception imo. That’s where I would start with that. So in short, to fix it we must first fulfill the communities needs adequately.
12:31 AM
The primary focus should be the structure of the league being 100% figured out. We can’t have admins stumbling over their own two feet figuring out when to send out announcements or do activity checks. I plan to contribute to these changes by providing guidance to admins on the subject matter. I feel as though I go more in-depth on this in my admin application. I’ll quote it as I know it’s very long XD. Feel free to skip it if you do not require any further detail. Though I would recommend reading through at least once. Number one: structure for all future seasons to come. This is probably the most important thing to me and something that CSC fails at. 5 years is a very very long time. If I’m being completely honest I don’t know where I will be in 5 years in my career let alone in CSC. I definitely have not planned the next 5 years out for CSC but I will say that within the next 2 seasons I plan to have fixed a lot of the structural issues that are plaguing CSC. This will allow admins to focus on the more pretty changes that get dressed up a lot. But without the structure then the league will be falling apart in a somewhat similar manner to what it already is. I also hope to change the overall culture of the admin team and the general opinion of them going forward for the better.

I definitely agree that is one of the biggest issues with the current team. I would point to my overall interaction in the league over a long period of time, things like my overall messages and then my experience in the league for being good signifiers that I will not leave the league high and dry during my term. To further this I would state that during my time as admin in S5-S6 I was there actively as an admin throughout my entire term. I don’t believe I had one off day.

I think if I had to point to the main catalyst it was general perception of me as an admin. Since I was the most active and outspoken admin at the time I was giving the brunt of the backlash especially from staff. So when I would deliver a decision from the admin team it would often be me who said it and that could definitely make some view me in a negative light.

I would say that my platform in particular there would be almost admins who would disagree with implementing those ideas. But if they are against something I’m proposing and we had already discussed it at length I would be more than okay backing down. At the end of the day it is a democracy and if all other admins are disagreeing with me then likely it is not what is best for the league. As for how I would have reacted in the past I don’t think anything would change to my answer above. I have never went against the majority in my time as admin in the past.

I would definitely try to capitalize on the in season time more as admin. I think that when CSC hits regular season is actually when the majority of the work for reform to CSC should take place but its quite the opposite. Admins slow down and their day to day workload actually lessens. Did you notice this during your time as admin or is it just me?

I think that it should be somewhat encouraged to continue longer lasting franchises like GLD which have been here since day 1. But as for franchises here for less than 3 seasons or so I do not think they are tenured enough to "deserve" a permanent place in the league as a franchise.

My general thoughts on prizing for the main league is that we should not have it. The second a real life prize that is held at monetary value we do away with the core values of CSC which is a for fun league. At that point people have real reason to smurf, cheat or even just straight up join the league as a legitimate pro/semi-pro player. All of which have the chance to ruin the tiers of CSC which would be counter intuitive to CSCs overall goal. We strive to have a fun league, not one where people are incentivized to play for money.

This question is being posed to all candidates: A big thing in some of your platforms is transparency between staff and players. First off, do you see the need for more accountability for admins specifically? If so, what are some ways you can come up with to accomplish this? I'm not just talking about punishing admins using their positions of power for wrongful purposes, but also less intense (not the right word for it but I'm blanking) things, like having regular-ish updates about current admin projects/discussions. These pre-election discussion threads are great, but once someone is elected, it would be helpful to have ways to confirm they are sticking to what they said they would do. If they aren't, I think that is something we the people deserve to know come re-election time.

I feel like its a hard thing to be able to point to one thing and guarantee it will happen. For example, last season there was someone who won (and the season prior) and ran on admin newsletter. Its a great idea but its hard to execute especially midseason. The issue with midseason is there actually isn't that much going on for admins to do. I think that should in general be changing but the day to day in season remains very consistent and as more responsibility is removed and placed to other committees its hard to do much more than have admins say that they talked with media/events about allstars and such. I think that an admin newsletter should try to exist and be followed. Even if there is no news to post, this is something that has previously failed so I am not comfortable saying I can guarantee it will be followed to a tee. But I will personally say that I will work my hardest if elected to have a biweekly admin newsletter in a digestable form. I think that a lot of the things that go in #official-changes or even events that take place can just be mentioned in there, or in #notices can be posted in #admin-updates, certain pushes that we try to make midseason like @ATO | Assass1n's CSC config idea, or in the past @PFA | xXx_legeNd_xXx_420's wiki, can all take shape in #admin-updates in a more official mention. This could also work in tandem with @TFR | 42Firehawk and @ATL | omA 🏆s Journalism subcommittee of media I think. Reporting the CSC news not only from an admin perspective but from a community perspective is very important.

Hey everyone, if there's any questions left I will try to answer them before I go to bed in under an hour. Get them in ASAP if you have anything. Thanks for all the prior questions and as far as I'm aware I have answered them all. Much love,

I'm gonna drop this here before I go to bed. If you take nothing out of admin discussions besides one thing I want it to be the following information which is my core ideas. TL;DR for my main plans as admin (again, would recommend reading them as they provide greater detail but the tldr gets the point across) 1. Integrating a much better structure for upcoming seasons in the form of a guide/calendar laying out when things need to take place. 2. Increasing admin interaction with community, particularly with serious suggestions. Issues and ideas shouldn't fall to the wayside, they should be handled accordingly, at bare minimum acknowledgement that the admins have seen your suggestion. 3. Ramping up advertisement (of which you can already see the success of that) and better member onboarding/discord structure changes. This is hard to shorten, I'd suggest to check it out here: https://discord.gg/R4dnzRjWCY or watch this video I prepared. Note that not all details in this are final, given more time there's much more improvements I can make to this. But the base concept is the same.

This isn't all I plan to work on but rather the most important to me. I have plenty of ideas in my brain and a lot of them are already in the works. Such as new Power Rankings for teams coming into next season and during season. These plans are just around the corner coming into the season and if I am elected I will make sure of it taking place. To anyone who might be thinking that admins can stop these from being implemented if they so choose to I would just say that all candidates (besides crudest who hasn't responded yet) have said they are are doable and wouldn't see any problems implementing them. Thank you to everyone who has taken time out of your day to make CSC what it is today, and to make it better for all future seasons to come. The sky is the limit, and together we soar! (new AVI motto? i think so!)
