Why do you want to be an Arbiter? I want to be an arbiter to continue helping the league. As I am on my trip this is the best way for me to stay involved in the league. I feel like everyone deserves to have the ability to share their side when they believe the strike or punishment was not applied correctly. I hope to be able to help the players/staff in trouble. What experience do you have, if any, that would help you in the position of Arbiter? I have many seasons and years of experience as a player and as a member of the staff. I started playing season 1 as well as being admin from season 1-4 as well as another 2 season stint I believe starting season 7. When I wasn’t an admin, I led rules committee meetings, was the head of the TM committee, and advised the admin team if they asked. Ask any member of the community and they can tell you how committed to CSC I have been over the years. If Player A is struck for being rude (Rule 10) to Player B, but claims that it was a joke, how would you rule this case and why? For me the context of the message matters, the behavior guidelines state that the consequences are up to the discretion of the moderator enforcing the rule. This caveat allows for some wiggle room in terms of discretion of whether the strike should have been applied. For example, the explanation of the guideline says that overly sarcastic remarks can be given a strike. How I would rule on the comment depends on what precisely was said, and if the remark could upset a larger community. Staff Nominator: @SANTATRONIC 🏆

Fun fact: Arbiters have 7 days to make a decision once the appealant has made their initial claims, however time sensitive punishments like mutes and MD bans can affect a players ability to play in matches and events. With that in mind, there can be some pressure to make decisions faster than others may feel comfortable doing so. How confident are you in your abilities to analyze and address provided evidence in a timely manner while still feeling that enough due diligence was done?

As a former arbiter, I understand that there are times where the mods and admins might disagree with how the arbiters are approaching a case. If elected, do you plan on finding ways to better meet in the middle with the other parties or do you want to stick to your own opinions on cases? Are you wanting to find ways bolster the arbiter's abilities and suggest changes to the committee and/or the mods' behavior guidelines since you rule based on those guidelines?

Extremely confident, I plan on using all of the time to discuss. If we do not use the time allotted to us then have we really used all of our resources? This is not to push decisions longer and have a slower turn around time but to make sure that everything has been discussed. People tend to make reactionary decisions when given information and I hope I can push everyone in the committee to look past that initial gut reaction

There are two separate questions in here so I’m going to separate my responses First question: as this committee is there to be a balance on the rulings of mods and sometimes (but very rarely in my experience) admins, there are times to meet in the middle and there are times when people make mistakes. We are all human and we all have emotional reactions to things. I highly doubt the mod committee would purposely overstep when things in the server get heated, but we are there to take a step back and review. So I guess to answer I plan on doing both. There are times to meet in the middle and there are times to stick to my guns so to say

Question 2: it has been a minute since I have been involved on the back side of things so I may have missed some changes already. I’m very open to hearing what the arbiters have to say about changes. As you may or may not know, when I was on my second stint as admin the arbiter committee completely revamped under gindeht’s leadership some things I agreed with some I did not, but gindeht having that space/ability to make some changes was important to allow the arbiters to perform their job functions. To better answer your question I will say this, yes I’m open to bolster abilities of the arbiters if when I’m elected I see that changes need to happen. I can not say I’m good faith that I know enough background stuff that the arbiters need to be bolstered this time around

there haven't been too many significant changes to arbiter position. They are still a "sub-committe" of the moderators. and basically, they exist to rule on "did this person break this rule or not" and "did this moderation get applied correctly". I believe this is not a change from how things were in the past but idk im not a historian. I don't know what abilities there are to even bolster as an arbiter??

Yeah I think that’s a fair question and is how I remember the committee being setup , like I said I’m open to the idea but not sure if I can pinpoint exact things that NEED to be bolstered
