Why do you want to be an Arbiter?
I want to be an arbiter to continue helping the league. As I am on my trip this is the best way for me to stay involved in the league. I feel like everyone deserves to have the ability to share their side when they believe the strike or punishment was not applied correctly. I hope to be able to help the players/staff in trouble.
What experience do you have, if any, that would help you in the position of Arbiter?
I have many seasons and years of experience as a player and as a member of the staff. I started playing season 1 as well as being admin from season 1-4 as well as another 2 season stint I believe starting season 7. When I wasnβt an admin, I led rules committee meetings, was the head of the TM committee, and advised the admin team if they asked. Ask any member of the community and they can tell you how committed to CSC I have been over the years.
If Player A is struck for being rude (Rule 10) to Player B, but claims that it was a joke, how would you rule this case and why?
For me the context of the message matters, the behavior guidelines state that the consequences are up to the discretion of the moderator enforcing the rule. This caveat allows for some wiggle room in terms of discretion of whether the strike should have been applied. For example, the explanation of the guideline says that overly sarcastic remarks can be given a strike. How I would rule on the comment depends on what precisely was said, and if the remark could upset a larger community.
