Why do you want to be an Arbiter? I had a lot of fun playing CSC last season. My brother(weine) and I both joined for season 11 on a whim and we both had a really positive experience meeting new people and competing against eachother (I beat him in playoffs). However I am still in college and currently am away at school for season 12 of CSC. This leaves me no time to play in this upcoming season. Despite that I really want to be involved in the community still in a more impactful way than just being active in the discord channels. The arbiter position is something that I am very interested in for these reasons. I feel as though a skill of mine is being able to come at situations is being able to take myself out of situations while having an objective and unbiased point of view. I think the position of arbiter is one of many important systems of checks and balances that CSC has in place. I really want to have a positive impact on CSC, and I plan on being here a long time, so I think this is a good first step giving my situation. What experience do you have, if any, that would help you in the position of Arbiter? I was an admin on Arctic community servers during the lockdown (March 2020-October 2020). Our position made us use personalized plugins in the discord server. Collect evidence on all and any ban, temporary or permenant, while using the guidelines provided by the senior administration. I am very familiar with muting, banning, and kicking players based on collected evidence and provided punishment guidelines for offenses. In real life I have been apart of many different groups of people ranging who have varying life expereince. Whether it was in band, highschool sports, college sports, college clubs, or my previously held jobs (which sadly were all customer service). Throughout my experiences I feel as though I have developed a strong sense of someones character and intentions. Which can I feel as though will be very helpful in the discussions with the other arbiters to help decide what rule the appealer has broken and to what degree. If Player A is struck for being rude (Rule 10) to Player B, but claims that it was a joke, how would you rule this case and why? Based on the insanely limited and generalized information provided I would assume this is Player A's first offense. Per the rules they would receive at minimum a verbal warning. However if they are appealing the case obviously they received some degree of a timeout. Which would mean they were previously warned for their rude behavior. While knowing the rules they committed yet another offense. Which would lead me to be inclined to deny their appeal. However there are potentially multiple mitigating factors at play. The context of their conversation and the two players history would be taken into account. What they said specfically would also matter. But most importantly I must make sure I am not personally involved in the appeal. For example, if Player A was a previous teammate or friend of mine I would obviously need to abstain to protect the integrity of the system. Staff Nominator: @GAS | Crazy

Fun fact: Arbiters have 7 days to make a decision once the appealant has made their initial claims, however time sensitive punishments like mutes and MD bans can affect a players ability to play in matches and events. With that in mind, there can be some pressure to make decisions faster than others may feel comfortable doing so. How confident are you in your abilities to analyze and address provided evidence in a timely manner while still feeling that enough due diligence was done?

As a former arbiter, I understand that there are times where the mods and admins might disagree with how the arbiters are approaching a case. If elected, do you plan on finding ways to better meet in the middle with the other parties or do you want to stick to your own opinions on cases? Are you wanting to find ways bolster the arbiter's abilities and suggest changes to the committee and/or the mods' behavior guidelines since you rule based on those guidelines?

Thankfully the behavior guidelines are very clear on what the punishment for offenses should be. I work extremely well under pressure and do no have any doubts in my ability to judge the appeal fairly in a short manner of time.

Especially in a position like an arbiter I think communication between the mods and admins on specific appeals would be extremely important to paint the full picture of the case. However it is also important as an arbiter to negate any bias in yourself and even potentially the mods or admins in rare cases. Nobody is perfect and sometimes there is no right answer. However as an arbiter it is their job to make that decision. So most likely I will form my own opinion and then take into account what the mods and admins think about the appeal as well as discussing it with the other arbiters. But as a potential arbiter I would feel as though it would be helpful for anyone involved with the behavior guidelines to suggest any potential changes that they think are unfair or too soft in the guidelines. It would not be my place to rule against the guidelines however lobbying for change in the guidelines seems completely harmless and almost necessary in most likely rare cases.

+rep Has expressed a lot of interested in picking up a role within CSC since he isn't able to play out this up coming season. Very friendly when you catch him outside of playoffs.
