Why do you want to be a player representative for Rules Committee? I've been a vocal proponent of change for a while and becoming the player rep on RC is a more efficient method of effecting change than SSD or new ideas channel. I think I have a lot of valuable experience and perspective that would be useful on RC. I've been constantly fighting for improvements to the league and want to keep doing that on the Rules Committee

Plus rep for Aybear, he is a big proponent for positive change in RC and we often discuss rules, I think he would make a great representative

Hey @Aybaer 🏆, big fan. How does your experience as AGM help you understand the rules as well as the needs of players in this league.

Are there specific changes/improvements you're looking to help implement?

@AVI | Fuffy 🏆 Working as an (A)GM has given me the opportunity to work with and experience a wide variety of players and issues across multiple season. At the moment I don’t feel that there are any large problems from an RC perspective. Premier obviously needs to be dealt with but after previous conversations I numbers and admins are aware and working on the issue, so it shouldnt fall on the backs of RC. All in all I think RC is healthy and I would like to contribute to keeping it that way. (edited)

The elephant in the room is obviously premier, however after previous discussions and comments from admins and numbers I decided to postpone submitting my earlier suggestion for the PFA -> FA pathway. Off the top of my head I don’t have any other specific changes but I’ll have to think about it a little more after I get home from Costco. (edited)

Of course I thought of two things immediately after sending that. 1) The waiver system could use a thoughtful rework. 2) another that has been on my mind as far back as season 8 is the possibility of mid season tier changes for players below a .8 (negotiable) rating with restrictions. I think there could be some cool benefits, namely that of allowing players FA’s who are otherwise shadowbanned (for lack of a better) term to get another opportunity. While also providing another method for late season signings/fa variety. That being said it’s just an idea and absolutely is not a priority. (edited)

Yeah I don't hate some version of the 2nd, but it would probably become a numbers thing not really a RC thing. I do remember seeing I think it was your suggestion after someone was definitely out of their league

And don't disagree with 1 lol, revamps are hard dead

just for clarity, your second suggestion was discussed by numbers in the form of fluid MMRs for FAs and is being implemented this season (istg if someone pings me in the numbers chat now because they forgot we discussed it i'll cry)

what kind of ideas would you want to implement into the waiver system? (edited)

Great question. Honestly I haven’t sat down and brainstormed replacement ideas. I have seen a couple of different ideas thrown out in SSD that also were weird in their own ways. However a certainty is that the keyword here is thoughtful. There is no point in replacing a decent system with another without some clarifiable need being met. For me though, the main thing would be potentially changing how and how often waivers are calculated. Maybe move to some type of average league position for determining waiver position. I would need to do a case study but this could potentially remove the s10 neight gas os situation (average position significantly decreases the importance and variability in positions from a single match result). In the case of a tie we could coinflip (or gm 1v1 πŸ˜‰ ) One majorly off the wall thing that intrigued me was the possibility of having waiver picks (like draft picks) that are tradeable for futures. Which would allow franchises that have priority picks to leverage into future season picks. From a GM perspective this would give another depth to trading while also allowing a GM to roll something the franchise may not want/need into something that is useful for the next season (edited)

Anecdotally, for @GAS | fArt; if you had the ability to trade for OS’s waiver pick for neight, would you have done so? And @COW | SmartAsSuperman/ @OS | Spence 🏆 is that a transaction you would have hypothetically been interested in?

Absolutely not

But it's a question worth asking

with 4.3.5.2, sign and trades are possible off the waiver
5:19 PM
I really wouldnt want TMs to be tracking waiver trades but it's an interesting idea

I'm ultra-BMing anyone who tries to sign and trade a waiver player kekw

Not the waiver player, the waiver pick (waivers would have to become a tradeable pick). (edited)
5:34 PM
E.g. if GAS (or another franchise) wanted to trade for OS’s 1st overall waiver for let’s say a s11 3rd round, then they could do that.
5:35 PM
Again this was an off the wall idea in ssd (I think) that intrigued me

If we were to combine the suggestions using last season premier as an example: Teams are assigned a rolling waiver pick (think draft pick) 1-6 inverse to their average position in the standings. 1st place receives 6, 2nd gets 5th, and so on. However like I said above these picks are now tradeable for current players, futures, cross tier trades, etc. This allows the trades to commence for the picks themselves on who gets to sign the player(s) on waivers.

definitely an interesting proposition. In that specific scenario, no but i could easily see myself taking that offer at a ton of different points thru the seasons
