Why do you want to become an Admin? While the position of admin being the highest position one can have in CSC is something that entices many I do not vie for the title. Rather I want what is best for the league and at this moment I know what is best is for me to run for the position. With the league ever growing and expanding it is crucial for CSC to have strong admin team going forward. With my passion and experience for the league I know I will help this league become bigger and better than ever before. As we move into the new era of counterstrike there will be much work needed to be done for this league and I am ready to take up the challenge and help lead this league into CS2. What prior experience do you have that you believe will help you as an Admin? I have vast experience with administrative positions throughout my professional and gaming career. I was a general manager for the Gladiators for 1 and a half seasons where overall player retention for the franchise reached an all time high. The sense of family that was reached and is still being cultivated by my successors. Furthermore I have been on the media committee since joining csc and for season 7 I was on the rules committee where I helped pass meaningful rules as well as suggest future discussions for the next season members. I have been committed to this league even after I stepped back from playing and continue to be an active member here. (edited)

What things do you hope to implement, reinforce, or remove as an Admin. This league has come a long way and I think overall the league is functioning like a well oiled machine that just needs some refinements. I think the first implementation I would like to add is something more internal regarding committees. As I’ve seen in media many inter-committee ideas are crafted but the execution is either slow or never is resolved due to a lack of communication outlets. When an idea like that is formed and is deemed a positive for the league I would like to open those communication outlets to get input from both sides to see if this idea is feasible going forward. There are many other ideas that I have / want to reinforce that I’m sure I will be asked my opinion on in the admin discussion so I look forward to engaging with the community. Anything else you would like to add? This league is one of the most successful leagues ever in CS. A small group decided to do what seemed impossible and create a free to play CS league entirely independent from any outside help. What has now culminated through 10 seasons is something to be proud of and I think it is my duty to help continue propel this league forward into the future of what to come. Thank you, Jeremy “JermzPC” (edited)

Hi Jermz, I was wondering what opening communication outlets mean for you? Would that mean that you will act as a mediator/facilitator to inter-committee conversations and develop an idea to realization pipeline or does it look like something else? *Additional Question Based on League Discussion today, there seems to be an issue of inactive staff in some committees do you think this is an extension of lack of communication? If so how could this be mitigated? Best of luck!! (edited)

Hello Jermz, Do you feel as though operating from a Macintosh machine will impact your ability to function as admin? Serious question though: To expand on your internal committee issues on intercommittee communication: Do you feel like Committee Heads should be in charge of making the connections between committees, or admins should step in to connect. If it isn't an admin role, or if it is an admin role indirectly, please expand on what types of ways admins could and/or should step in to help if relevant. Looking forward to seeing your answers across the thread (or possible mega-answer?)

So if we look at the improvements that have been made within even the past 5 seasons I've been here I like where the league is sitting right now and I don't have many broad changes I'm looking to implement going into these next two seasons. I think my biggest concern is some of the problems that have been described by the premier tier. The solution to this starts with getting down to the ground and analyzing many of the issues that have been brought up this past season in both Serious Suggestion Discussion as well as the player surveys that are sent out (if you have not filled one out please fill one out they help in providing feedback for the higher-ups). I like Aybaer's idea (see https://discord.com/channels/644377562516029460/644579584754581514/1083244224192978954) in implementing a premier feedback form to help get a clear and concise idea of what needs to be fixed. I also would like to talk to many premier players and hear them through a voice chat to understand their concerns and provide that to the other admins. These tier-specific forms are helpful for the entire league and not just for premier. Implementing them for individual tiers serves as a way to get more precise data and allows for more minute and finer changes to be made. As said before, some of these problems that premier has have never been an issue for other tiers so, finding those tier-specific problems may be easier done with tier feedback forms. Overall my goals as admin will be to bridge the gap between many communication channels that are currently underutilized so that, as a league, we can propel further into the future and make this league better than before.
Discord is the easiest way to communicate over voice, video, and text. Chat, hang out, and stay close with your friends and communities.

NAN | JermzPC 4/11/2023 11:41 AM
This is mostly answered in my above response to Assass1n so I think reading that should give insight on what I feel is needed for premier. Creation of better player/admin communication for individual tiers so that the admin team can analyze what problems arose that were tier-specific to help create meaningful change for those tiers.

NAN | JermzPC 4/11/2023 11:42 AM
Answer to part one: So currently there is no effective way to get 2 different committees to work together. Lets me put this from an internal view: Media finds out about events through mostly the media head announcing that we will have streams. At no point before that (unless a media person is also in events) does media know about the event. Similarly, an idea was given for integration with the website for our overlay. The person making the idea has no internal avenue to go to continue working on this idea and it is either dead right there or has to go externally to the DMs of a tech committee member. This is where I can come in. When an idea like that is thought of I want there to be a way to communicate with an available committee member to see if this idea is feasible and if it's within our scope to be accomplished. I first want to take the idea to the committee whose help is needed and find out if this idea is feasible. I then want to create an internal CSC avenue in Discord for these 2 parties to be able to talk further about the idea and, if both parties see this as a worthwhile venture, create a plan of action to get this idea into development. At that point, it will go on a Kanban board that I will be managing so that I can help assist in any way I can in the completion of these ideas.
11:42 AM
answer to part two: This is probably the best question I have seen so far thank you for bringing this up. I think it is a mixture of both in terms of inactivity and communication. Committee members are volunteers and so expecting a certain level of commitment outside of allotted CSC time can be difficult to promise when applying for these positions. Communication is key in this regard and for smaller committees I think it's important to implement "scrum-like" meetings for them so that all members can be on the same page. For example, media has at most 2 meetings a season(usually before the season starts). Having more meetings during the season can help guide committee members who may be lost or find it hard to communicate their problems back to a point where they feel included in the committee. It can be daunting going into a job you don't know yet so having a support pipeline that isn't just DMing the committee head is crucial for success. Appreciate the luck Sletong and if you have any more questions or want me to expand on anything I have said please respond here.

So as I expanded on Sletong's question it is a mixture of both. The first step is really seeing if this is a good idea which would be done first internally within the initial committee where this idea was founded. The next step will be to take it to the second committee to see if they like the idea. At that point that both parties like it I will be the one to set up the communication pipeline and keep the Kanban board updated so that I can bring progress reports on the projects to the rest of the admin team. The admin team will have full access to my notes at all times but I will also provide updates during admin meetings. When an idea starts to fall behind I will step in and try to help schedule a meeting to find out where problems arose and what steps are needed to either continue this project or reflect on why the project didn't work.

NAN | JermzPC 4/11/2023 11:44 AM
My point in saying that at the beginning was this: Many people see the name admin and think of the broad power that comes along with it. It is the highest rank one can achieve here and many want it for the perks that come along with it. I am not in it for anything other than to help this league flourish and continue to develop this idea to make it the best league it can be. Given that I am no longer a GM or even a DE player my time best spent is to be helping league operations as best that I can and that starts with becoming an admin. I have been in this league for many seasons now and have a firm grasp of how this league works. I have seen the innerworkings from almost every perspective and know that admin is the next step for me.

Do you think bending to help one tier is a slippery slope?? And if you don’t then what stops Elite players to ask for different days if they play on the same IM teams that premier players do? What would be your answer to Elite tier wanting autonomy of their tiers schedule??

NAN | JermzPC 4/11/2023 1:06 PM
Answer to question one: I think that tier-specific rules can be a slippery slope. One of the things that I have witnessed on media is when playoff games get rescheduled it can be difficult to change the stream schedule to accommodate everything we want to do. When premier was first created they had leniency for when to do their games to try to avoid ESEA conflicts. One of the things we see as a big difference between tiers is how much ESEA conflicts play a role. For some, this can be their first formal league experience meaning they can participate in all CSC matches. For others, CSC is just another league for them to fit into their CSGO schedule so they find it hard to consistently participate. I think finding that balance of flexibility while also making it fair to the rest of the league with what changes are done to improve the quality of life for each party. The admin team will be working closely with numbers , media, and members of each tier to ensure changes we implement are fair for everyone it effects. Answer to question two regarding elite autonomy: This answer comes down to the data that we find in our search for what is best in terms of changes. Gathering the data to find what a tier wants (see my notes on tier-specific surveys) is important to what needs to be done. When elected admin my first goal will be working internally with the many committees/my fellow admins to get the insight to make these decisions. I also want to talk to the admins leaving this term to get their opinions on some of these problems and how they feel about their tenure.

What are some things you enjoy about CSC? What would you advise to players who have been discouraged by their CSC experience?

You had a number of life changes come through this past year that ultimately changed how much time you were able to spend in CSC - has your schedule adjusted at all that will make you more often available for things that may arise in CSC during the season that need to be handled in a timely manner?

Right so TLDR for people who do not know my life story: I got a real-world job, realized I was spending too much time gaming, and also got engaged to my girlfriend(now fiance). I took a big step back from the best franchises that I have ever been a part of. Even if I wasn't GM for GLD the energy and coherency in that franchise is nothing that I've ever been a part of before. Even to this day, I insist they give me at least some perms to even get a glimpse of what still is happening there(big props to Owen and co for keeping the dream alive). This season has made me miss being a bigger part of the league and given I don't want to come back as a player I think the best way my time can be spent is coming back as an admin. As someone passionate about the league I want to devote my time and energy to making this league even better than what it currently is. I will be available as much as I can allot to continue in the footstep of my admin predecessors in making this league better. I have the knowledge and grasp of what this position will ask of me and am ready to take the leap. In response to "has your schedule adjusted at all that will make you more often available" it wasn't my availability that stopped me from participating in the league rather I took a step back entirely from gaming which is still true to the extent I will not be going into the draft pool this season however I will still be involved heavily with all operations/duties that come with this title.

Through my experience as an arbiter, there seems to be a variety of views on how different staff groups and player groups view arbiters. I understand no individual has the ability to dictate or define what that role is, but what do you see the role of Arbiters as? Do you see the high turnover rate of arbiters as an issue? Do you want to see any changes to that role?
Avatar
The focus in a lot of Admin elections tends to land on transparency or major changes the candidates want to see. That said, you would be joining a group with a trajectory they have been working towards for a season(+) and would need to work with them for any changes around that. What current projects or actions do you want to encourage and help with that the current admin team is working on? What is one idea or project of yours do you think the current team would help you with?

The arbiter committee is an important voice for the members of this community when they feel like a ban of some kind is unjust and want another body (in this case a non-biased party of their peers) to look at the evidence against them and see if the member is in violation. It can be hard to feel as though you have a way to deal with an unjust ban so having a committee that is not connected to the moderation team is important for an unbiased look into a case. My big issue with high turnover rates is it makes the committee unstable in terms of having to integrate new members into the committee. I think many members don't understand how big of a deal the arbiters are in terms of the services they provide for the community so working with the arbiters/past arbiters on the problems they face would be beneficial for the committee. I would like to see changes happen but before I have anything specific id want to talk to the arbiters/admins given that alot of what is done is behind closed doors. The way I can say it is I want to have a deep look and understand the arbiters before I have a specific change of mind.

In terms of current goals that they have been working towards, I would want to sit down individually with each admin and figure out their individual strategies in terms of how they divert their time into csc. In terms of my current projects ( such as my inter-committee communication) I would take the lead and, if the rest of the admin teams find this a good venture, will work on myself with any other admins willing to get the project completely and functioning effectively,

One quick correction here, arbiters are not their own committee, they are sub committee of the mod team and not a independent entity.

So media has many ideas in terms of recruitment and has even created a sub-part of media entirely designated for advertising. One of the main ways we have done this is through Reddit and that has netted us a large chunk of our signups. Another way we were able to get CSC noticed on a more professional scale was when Launders, a popular caster, tweeted about us. I think we have a reinvigorated social media team that has been posting much more consistently on twitter and starting to move further in other social media categories. I think the big thing for recruitment is just looking at all the numbers and ensuring the league will run as intended with who we have coming in the season. The admin's job will focus on a lot of league-related matters such as adding or removing teams so we must be attentive during the preseason.

I have been in this league for two years come the 29th. Through that time I have been on several franchises, served in many committee positions, and moved up the ranks to become a general manager. I have watched this league flourish and have advocated every day for this league even showing it to my university for them to see how cool this league is. I now have the time to devote to helping this league improve and I want to give back to this community that has been there for me for the past two years.
