Why do you want to become an Admin? I have been a part of the league for 4 seasons now and I have been a AGM for 2 of those seasons. I have seen a lot of the inner workings from both a players perspective and more in depth as an AGM and have a good understanding of how the league is run, and what I believe should be improved and/or reworked. ---------- What prior experience do you have that you believe will help you as an Admin? I have been a part of the events, stats, and media committees for multiple seasons as well as previously mentioned having been AGM for OS for 2 seasons. (also I'm totally the best player in the CSC 10mans hub) ---------- What things do you hope to implement, reinforce, or remove as an Admin? I would like to refocus the league a to lean a bit more towards the pure ""fun"" side of our league as opposed to the strictness of other leagues people play in to play (in my opinion) at a higher commitment level. I would like to make an effort to minimize the necessity of 4v5s in matches due to no faut of the GM/players in the server. Playing in a 4v5 hurts the integrity of the league from a competition perspective, and could potentially be the difference in teams making/missing playoffs. Personally I have no fun playing on either side and it leaves a sour taste in players mouths when you are forced to play down a player when its no fault of yours or your organizations. I would also like to work with events committee add more incentivization for people to participate in non-league events. Such as leaderboards and potentially some small prizes for events such as Wingman, Old map, or 1v1 tournaments. With off season being so hectic for upper management (Admins, GMs, etc.) players, both returning and new tend to be left with little to engage with the league before combine start back up again. I am more than happy to answer any and all questions anyone might have and expand on any points I have made already. Thank you all for your time and I look forward to talking to y'all!

What would you do as an admin that you wouldn't be able to do as a part of rules/transactions/events?

This past season, we saw the admin team take action in a way similar to an executive order by allowing more than 1 FA sub until the end of regular season for the challenger tier while the rules committee was actively discussing it. What are your thoughts on this ability to bypass committees?

Why are you a Giants fan and have you considered switching to a better baseball team like the Los Angeles Dodgers? In all seriousness, +1, Superman is by far one of the top candidates (edited)

Admins aren't as limited within a committee as those three are individually. Having the ability to work between all three committees simultaneously is much more efficient in my eyes as opposed to only being able to work from within them. If I can think of a way to phrase this better I will edit this later but I hope this answers your question for now

Referring to your answer stating that you are looking to more so embrace the "fun" part of the league, are you looking to remove all competitiveness or just have a healthy balance?

I think it's very situational but admins should have the ability to to overstep committees when necessary. With subs being a very problematic part of our League in the past few seasons I think it was a good decision at least for the short term. But I would take caution if admins are continually bypassing committees, given the committees are being active and responding In a reasonable manner. There is a very delicate balance when bypassing committees and it is very much a case-by-case basis in my opinion.

Hello! What rules or conditions currently do you see as inhibiting the fun/casual nature of the league? Is it only related to the 4 v 5 situations or is there other aspects that you find limit the fun/casual competitive nature of CSC? Best of luck!

Decisions usually are NOT made by just a group of admins, but through a group effort made by committee heads and admins alike. Things aren't always easy and streamlined as we would like. That being said, what would you be able to provide if what you might believe is a good idea or implementation but cannot get others to agree or stand behind it as well? How would you go about discussions that might not go the way you think it should?

The first goal that I really have is to give us more avenues to prevent the necessity of 4v5/FFs. This is more of a single point to an overall goal of refocusing the leagues philosophy to be more casual focused while also still being competitive.

Admittedly we will never agree on our primary teams. But can we at least agree that the Mariners are our second favorites?

I'm not entirely sure what you mean by this question. My immediate answer to this question would be having to deal with all of the drama that inherently comes with working with people. Not that I see that as a bad thing it's just one of those things not in the job description. I don't know if this answers your question but I hope this at least helps.

COW | SmartAsSuperman 12/12/2022 4:17 PM
My goal is to work with the rules committee as well as GMs to try and reevaluate our substitute rules. A prime example of a problem that I see especially with the tiers with fewer subs is last minute emergencies or unforeseen circumstances that are no fault of the franchises or other players and a another fifth player is available to fill but because this situation developed after the 30 minute deadline has occurred they're just out of luck for filling a player.

I think what assassin was asking for (not to put words in their mouth) was as many of the specific admin duties that you think admins do. If that isn't what he meant I'm still curious as to the answer to that question. What specific responsibilities do you think admins have? One example could be making a league schedule.

They wouldn’t, it’s more gauging what they believe the workload is

Still, odd question. Unless the person has had the position before theyre going to be some misconceptions between what they percieve the job to entail and what it actually entails.

another way to look at that question is, the intent I see behind it at least. Is this normally tells what an admin is likely to do when they get elected. There base knowledge is normally what they are most likely to be involved with when elected

I am certainly not looing to remove all competitiveness, but there is a balance that this league should aspire to achieve rather than lean completely into being competitive. I don't think we should try to compete with ESEA when we have our own thing going as a casual league where all we are competing for is bragging rights essentially and I think that's great for the NA scene to have. A place where the new kids learn to play team CS, where the old guys come to turn up and play with the boys and dip and everything in between.

One of the main ones is the strictness of subbing players in at the last minute when the the people on the server aren't at fault. For example if one of the subs you already had lined up to play disappears 5 mins before match time and now your team is punished for it.

I don't want to overstep a committee vote whatsoever. If we(Admins) do a "executive order" to fix a problem quickly and a committee reverts/changes our action then I wouldn't want to overrule they're decision.

hey superman! you mentioned that you want to focus on the fun part of the league, which i think is very important for retention. do you think this was something that was missing the past season or longer? how are you hoping to improve on this factor?
Avatar
COW | SmartAsSuperman 12/14/2022 8:04 PM
I don't think that the fun aspect of the league is or has been missing, rather I think that we are trending towards the league turning into something I believe the league wasn't designed for. I do like having a structured league where we have rules to help keep the games balanced, so I'm not advocating to remove the structure of the league but rather changing the expectations of the structure so that leadership can know when and how to appropriately offer leniency without being egregiously unfair to other parties.
